Duplicated House

The project addresses the client’s need to expand their residence. Located in a peripheral neighborhood of Lisbon, the existing house follows a traditional terraced typology. However, the corner plot offers distinct possibilities for the new volume. Miguel Marcelino’s proposal involves duplicating and rotating a form similar to the original. This unique configuration allows for both the preservation of natural light in the pre-existing rooms and the creation of new visual relationships and intermediate outdoor spaces.

The materiality of the new volume, with a stone finish covering both facades and the roof indiscriminately, radically differentiates it from the original volume.
