Ciudad Saludable is a project with a multidisciplinary research basis spanning the fields of architecture and urban planning, biology, and medicine. By intertwining these different disciplines, a series of urban indicators are established, serving as a tool to define urban improvement strategies. In this regard, research is conducted on how urban planning, specifically the way we move within the city, as well as the material and plant environment, among others, can affect the health of people and the living environment. Substantial conclusions of the study included the reduction of CO2 emissions, the promotion of walking and cycling, the presence of water, and increased soil permeability; as well as the promotion of outdoor living spaces, the vegetation cover index, and the fostering of biodiversity.

In a second phase, and based on the urban well-being indicators from the previous study, a preliminary project was developed for the urban rehabilitation of a specific area: Avenida Greco in Seville. Key to the proposal is the preservation of the natural water cycle, materialized through the implementation of various Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS): bio-retention
areas, permeable pavements, rain gardens, drainage trenches, and cisterns for water reuse. This pioneering experience in the city has successfully demonstrated the advantages of including sustainable parameters in urban rehabilitation.

This project is developed in coordination with the University of Seville, the Seville City Council, and EMASESA.
