IS IT POSSIBLE TO DENY UNCERTAINTY?

HOW CAN WE MAP IT?

Living, rich, and complex landscapes are therefore not easy to decipher.

In this workshop, we will take on the challenge of mapping doubt as a conscious cartographic approach. Participants will walk through the historic neighbourhoods of the city of Granada along their own routes, guided only by their own desire or intuition. A chance-based exercise that asserts the importance of each experience on a human scale and highlights the value of what is, a priori, considered merely anecdotal.

Exploring spaces that evoke emotions, searching for traces of creativity in the landscape, or experiencing the sensory dimension of the city… Encounters with others, activating latent spaces, or mapping botanical species… All of these, and many more, may become topics to discover along the participants’ journeys.

From this real experience, we will produce multiple maps capable of conveying our closest impressions. A collective atlas where it will be possible to capture the different perspectives and dimensions of the everyday landscape. To this end, in addition to using the mapping tool most familiar to each participant, we will introduce the use of GIS technology, which can create dynamic maps, make comparisons, and record the time factor.

The atlas of uncertainty is a methodological process for approaching landscape design. This workshop explores the act of searching and leads us to 1_test a playful and participatory strategy for experiential recognition of the city, 2_create a space of mediation between context, memory, and emotions, and 3_emphasise an active perspective on corporeal landscapes.
